Islam Awareness Series (IAS) is an adhoc focused on sharing knowledge and insights about Islam among NUS students, by providing a platform for discourse about Islam for Muslims and Non-Muslims. This is achieved by engaging audiences through talks and dialogues.
Mission: Serve as a safe and judgement-free space for Muslims to share and gain Islamic knowledge, regardless of their religious background, and understand different perspectives.
Vision: Foster a culture of inclusivity within the Muslim community in NUS.
This event aimed to provide a clear understanding of the Islamic Paradigm, focusing on its foundations and how it differs from secular moral frameworks through examples from the life of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w., demonstrating his moral conduct and offering practical models for ethical behavior. Participants were invited to reflect and discuss Islamic Paradigm as Principle Morality itself, and its applications to contemporary ethical dilemmas and personal life.
This event focused on educating participants on the Islamic concept of Tawakkul (trust). Specifically, what it means, its importance in Islam and how it relates to our relationship with Allah s.w.t., as well as how to incorporate it into everyday life. Under the guidance of experienced speakers—one of whom was a revert— attendees were able to gain a deeper understanding of Tawakkul and how to practise it daily.
This event highlighted different ways that mercy is expressed in Christianity and Islam, while sharing the steps that can be taken to observe Mercy in everyday life. Through insightful talks by established speakers and focus group discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of mercy, inspiring them to practise it more consciously.
IAS creates a safe, inclusive space for anyone seeking to learn about Islam, regardless of religion or background. It fosters harmony and understanding by serving as a platform for discourse and interaction.
As part of the IAS committee, you’ll grow alongside a diverse team, gain knowledge, and organise impactful events—ranging from talks and workshops to forums and carnivals.
