Context Lens was a secondary committee under NUS Muslim Society’s Publicity Secretariat, with the aim of harnessing the potential of podcasts for discourse on contemporary issues that undergraduates are concerned about, through the lens of Islam.
The primary aim of Context Lens was to deconstruct the perception of a dichotomous relationship between Islam and contemporary issues by discussing these issues through an Islamic lens, thereby contextualising them. It is our belief that no concern falls outside the purview of Islam, stemming from the belief that Islam is a perfect and complete way of life.
NOTE: As part of NUSMS’s efforts of streamlining adhocs and secondary committees, the 60th Shura Council decided to discontinue Context Lens as of AY24/25. Moving forward, the ExCo’s initiatives will take into account the objectives of CL and continue curating content that will be beneficial for all. May Allah s.w.t. bless the Context Lens team for their hard work.
