Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC) is an initiative organised by NUSMS and NUS Malay Language Society (PBMUKS), aimed at welcoming freshmen as they embark on their university journey.
The camp serves as a platform to connect students, foster a sense of belonging and offer necessary tools to thrive academically, socially and spiritually. The theme Aventura for AY24/25 aptly reflects the chaos and excitement that comes with the beginning of a journey ahead as a freshman.
During the camp, freshmen are grouped into Orientation groups and clans. By engaging in various activities such as icebreakers and sports, freshmen are provided multiple opportunities to interact with and get to know each other. Such activities, targeted at developing teamwork and empathy aims to allow bonding and the cultivation of friendships for the freshmen.
University marks the beginning of an independent way of learning and connecting. To guide freshmen and help them adapt to this change, freshmen are given the opportunity to listen to seniors share their stories and engage in conversation with them. This allows freshmen to clarify concerns and seek assistance with any difficulties they may face. The camp also features Adhoc and CCA Showcases, introducing initiatives for freshmen to explore and join.Â
As the Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC) Committee, we believe that freshmen deserve to be welcomed as warmly as our seniors had welcomed and guided us in the past. If you're passionate about games, sports and aspire to make a difference for our freshmen, join FOC!
