The Immense ocean
QTIO is a ground-up initiative (GUI) that serves as a platform for people to connect and form a better relationship with the Qur’an, one of the main sources of knowledge of God that we must hold on to as a guide in all our lives. Ultimately, QTIO aims to build a community with love for the Qur’an. This is achieved by broadly two approaches: 1) learning about the Qur’an, its contents and reflecting on them; 2) learning to read the Qur’an.
For this semester, Qur’an: The Immense Ocean delved into topics that allow us to gain a deeper appreciation of the Qur’an and allow us to create a better connection to it. We learnt more about what the Qur’an is, the linguistic beauty of it as well as meaningful lessons that we can derive and relate to, thus encouraging us to apply them in our daily lives. The lessons were conducted by our very own local esteemed asatizah - Ustaz Dr Firdaus Yahya, Ustaz Syed Mustafa, Ustaz Shahid Noorain and Ustazah Shahida Shaik Salim.
In light of the COVID19, in the month of Ramadhan, we carried out online Qur’an recitation sessions where we revised tajwid rulings and read the Qur’an together. Sessions were held every alternate day in the mornings of Ramadhan, with the help of fellow students serving as facilitators for these sessions.
QTIO provides students with opportunities to deepen their connection to the Quran through events that are catered primarily to undergraduate students. By focusing on the issues and inclinations that students experience, students can expect our events to be a light yet profound platform for them to better improve their relationship with the Quran in their daily lives.
